politicians care about the penis

March 30, 2016

In my twitter feed today, I had a couple of stories come across that highlighted the hypocrisy of how our political world approaches the medical community and how it impacts each gender. The first was this article about how a group of politicians are going after a drug company for selling a high-priced cancer drug saying that it was developed with public money and shouldn’t have the massive exclusionary right to be the sole producer of the drug (a practice that is entirely common in the medical field where creating drugs takes years and requires a massive amount of R&D costs).

The next article was about Florida doing their best to close abortion clinics and drastically restrict access to women’s health.

Maybe it’s just overly pessimistic of me, but  I wonder if politicians would be so gung-ho in going after pharmaceutical companies if the drug was for breast cancer, or if the clinics were somehow male centric.

Trumped out

March 18, 2016

It’s all of March 18th, and I’m already tired of the political season. At this point, it’s become pretty clear who the front runners, and likely party nominees, will be this fall. I already know who I’m voting for. The next seven and a half months are mostly just a tiresome trudge through the muck.

The thing is, it wouldn’t be that bad except for one person. Donald Trump.  This isn’t going to be a post railing against him. After months of campaigning, twittering, whoring himself out to every free interview given, and obsessively making everything about him, we know about him now. We know he stokes violence and hatred. If he isn’t racist, he plays the race card (a lot) and certainly comes across as racist because of it. He’s a misogynist. His tax plans, foreign policy, and stance on immigration is built in a bizarre, angry, hate filled fantasy land. He is what he is, and I’m not sure how more news coverage is needed to ferret that truth out.

Still, there he is. And now he’s being met by a large, angry, violent, hateful backlash. Which is he bizarrely profiting from with his followers. Really, at this point, we don’t need to hear any more about how horrible Trump is, from his mouth or others. We know it. Just show up in November, people, and shut him down at the voting booth.
